The desired properties, sufficient load resistance, good flexibility, and unlimited safety against breakage can be described in steels to be used as spring material. These features are only possible with proper steel selection and heat treatment. It is essential that the material does not lose its ductility by increasing the load resistance.
One of the important points to be considered about the production of flexible parts is the disadvantage of welding the parts. Additionally; events such as surface notch effect, internal cracks that may be caused by heat treatment, decarburation on the surface and effecting the homogeneous hardness of the material can be specified as reasons that increase the breaking effect. In addition, processes such as the sensitivity of surface roughness, thermochemical hardening (nitriding) and sandblasting can be said as processes that reduce the risk of breakage.
If the process of shaping the steel material takes place at room temperature, high bending stresses occur, which reduces the flexibility of the manufactured part. For this reason, it is appropriate to anneal the shaped parts at low temperatures.
